Empowering Girlhood: Teen Girls Group for Embracing Authenticity

  • Week 2 - June 11th: Building Friendships and Managing Relationships

  • Week 3 - June 18th: Exploring Self-Esteem and Body Image, and Messages from Media/Social Media

  • Week 4 - June 25th: Discovering Strengths, Self-Confidence, and Embracing Your Authentic Self

Who:

All teens identifying with the girlhood experience, who are interested in a 4-week journey designed to empower them to discuss universally experienced issues of today, all while supporting one another each week. Open to all girl-identifying and non-binary people.

*You do NOT need to be an existing Hallowell Todaro client to attend this group.

Cost:

$180 for 4 sessions


About the Group

Through this 4 week journey, we will work through a blend of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Expressive Art Therapy, and strength-based approaches to explore the universal experiences of being a teen in society today.

We will discuss topics such as managing friendships and relationships, expectations and pressures, the impact of social media on self-esteem and body image, and how to embrace your authentic self. We will explore all of these topics through different activities such as art projects, discovering music, utilizing movement, and of course snacks!

About Chelsea

Chelsea is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT #109081), and earned her Master's in Clinical Psychology from Azusa Pacific University. During her time in graduate school, she worked with families, couples, individuals, and children at the Inland Empire Ronald McDonald House to support families who had children and loved ones with medical illnesses. Following this, she worked in a community based setting in Southern California with children and adolescents, alongside their families, to support them in building coping skills and managing their behavioral and mental health challenges. Next, Chelsea worked at another community based setting in Northern California supporting Transitional Aged Youth (16-26 year olds) within the foster care system and juvenile justice systems to build independence, executive functioning, and self-advocacy while processing aspects of their life and managing their emotional wellness.

Chelsea's training has allowed her to gain experience working with individuals who have a variety of conditions including but not limited to depression, anxiety, trauma, self harm, suicidality, ADHD, impulse control, anger management, relational concerns, and adjustment to changing stages of life. Chelsea has worked with clients from diverse backgrounds, and honors each client’s cultural identities. Her approach to therapy is unique for each client she works with to create a comfortable space that allows the client to be their most authentic selves. Chelsea consistently works from a strengths based, person centered, and trauma informed lens. She looks forward to working alongside you and supporting you to live a life full of meaning and connection.
