Frequently Asked Questions

  • 1 . All new clients—both those with and without an existing ADHD diagnosis— begin with an initial evaluation where we assess their needs.

    2. We create a tailored treatment plan, which may include further evaluation and diagnosis, regular therapy or coaching sessions, ADHD medication, and/or any of our additional services.

Please note: our intake process may vary slightly from location to location.

  • Through the lens of a strength-based perspective, clients will work collaboratively with their provider (coach/therapist) to learn more about the unique ADHD brain wiring, to identify their own personal strengths and challenges, and to (together) work on improving their quality of life by managing obstacles and celebrating successes.

  • If a client comes in with a pre-existing ADHD diagnosis, they will still need to complete our intake evaluation with a Licensed Therapist. Through gathering the client's historical and current information in the evaluation setting, the therapist will be able to assess client goals and make a collaborative treatment plan moving forward that meets each individual client's needs.

  • Therapy is a form of treatment aimed at relieving emotional distress and mental health problems, all the while focusing on improving the well-being of the client. Therapy can be achieved through many means, including talk therapy, play therapy, art, and other means, each suited to the unique needs of each individual.

Coaching is a form of support in which the client works collaboratively with the provider to learn more about ADHD and associated strengths and challenges. The coach will work with the client on improving their executive functioning, as well as helping them approach life challenges (i.e. academic, social, professional, personal) by utilizing their strengths.

  • We treat children, teens, and adults. Clients can begin working with us from the age of 4 at our Washington ADHD center and from the age of 8 at our California ADHD center.

Many of our adult clients have never previously spoken to or sought advice from a professional in the mental health field to help them overcome their challenges. We welcome adults of all ages - it’s never too late to get help for ADHD.

  • Contact us and ask to schedule an intake appointment for you to come in to The Hallowell Todaro Center to meet with one of our clinicians for a formal intake session. This is the first step in the evaluation process.

  • New Client Evaluations:

Hallowell Todaro ADHD Center has a seven (7) business day cancellation policy for intake evaluations. Appointments must be canceled either in person or by email/voicemail at least seven (7) full business days in advance to avoid charges. In the case of emergency and/or illness, the patient will not be billed for the missed appointment. We reserve the right to cancel appointments if required documentation is not completed in a timely manner. Please note that insurance does not typically cover late cancellations and no-shows.

Services at Hallowell Todaro ADHD Center:

Hallowell Todaro ADHD Center has a two (2) business day cancellation policy for regular therapy, coaching and medication management appointments. Normal business days are considered Monday through Friday. Appointments must be canceled either in person or by email/voicemail at least two (2) full business days in advance to avoid charges. In the case of emergency and/or illness, the patient will not be billed for the missed appointment. Please note that insurance does not typically cover late cancellations and no-shows.

Cancellations and re-scheduled sessions will be subject to a full charge if we are not notified in advance. This is necessary because a time commitment is made to you and is held exclusively for you. If you are late for a session, you may lose some of that session time.

Services with licensed providers (including therapists and medication providers) may only be provided to individuals in the State of Washington. If you plan to or are traveling or out of the State of Washington at the time of your session, please notify our administrative team immediately to reschedule or cancel your session.
